Dennis Stevens, Managing Director and founder.

Started Geoscience Associates Australia in 1972

Dennis entered the geophysics profession in 1968 after completing his studies at the University of Wyoming, U.S.A. He worked in supervisory capacities for Scintilog and Dataline (both are Bore Hole Logging companies) before joining Geoscience Inc. in Denver Colorado, as National Supervisor in 1971. Dennis moved to Australia in 1972 and started up logging operations for the Geoscience Thompson Drilling group. In 1975, Dennis took over complete ownership of Geoscience Associates Australia Pty. Ltd.

Dennis has extensive expertise in all sectors of exploration/development and in all types of borehole service/logging operations throughout Australia and overseas. He has worked closely with most equipment manufacturers and other service providers around the world, resulting in many new and innovative products for t he exploration/development industry. The Research and Development section at Geoscience, headed by Dennis, is officially recognized by the Australian government and has been very successful in implementing many of these ideas through to full working products.

The SA, WA and QLD Health departments used the Geoscience Radiation Safety, developed by Dennis, as a guide for their Borehole Radiation Licensing programs. Dennis also had an active role in the development and installation of the Australian API Calibration pits in Adelaide, which are now maintained by the South Australian Mines Department and serve as the only calibrated medium in Australia.

Over the past 30 years, Dennis has maintained membership in the SEG, the ASEG, the AMF, the SPWLA, and the MGLS. These bodies are all dedicated to the further education and development of geophysics at all levels.
